Post 4, in which the next door neighbours come to visit.

A couple of years ago, my parents moved from Byron Bay to Brisbane. During the move, my dad turned up on the doorstep of our East Brisbane house with boxes of my childhood teddy bears, toys and books. Seeing as we have a rather large house here in Melbourne, I keep all of these toys on shelves and the beds in the spare room instead of packed away in a box somewhere. Now, combine these boxes of toys with my favourite hobby, making softies, and you have one hell of a toy collection.
Imagine the delight of our next door neighbours 3 children (aged 6, 4 and 1) when they discovered this said collection. As my husband says it must be like living next door to one of Santa's elves.
Yesterday I baked 24 portuguese tarts with the intention of inviting our next door neighbours over for a visit. Imagine my disappointment when they arrive in the afternoon and inform me that they all all allergic to eggs!

I got to play with the kids for a while and I wanted to share with you some of the conversation we shared.

6 Year old: "I went to Mass the other day and got to see Jesus talk"
Me: "What did he talk about?"
6 Year old: "Jesus"
6 Year old: "Does that mean there are 2 Jesuses?"

6 Year old: Where does Jesus live?
Me: "I think he lives in your heart"
4 Year old: No! Jesus lives in the sky!

4 Year old: I want to live at your house forever
Me: I think your mum and dad would miss you.
4 Year old: They'd only be next door

4 Year old: Do you have a baby?
Me: No
4 Year old: When are you going to get one? You need one to play with these toys.

  1. I was reading this on the train and people were looking at me because I was shaking with laughter. Children are hilarious, and your softies are gorgeous :)
